FELLOWSHIP & ORGANIZATIONS

AT ST. DEMETRIUS ORTHODOX CHURCH

CHURCH SCHOOL classes for children four through High School on Sundays following communion, as well as Adult Education classes held on Wednesdays during the regular school year. Inquirers' classes for those wanting to learn more about Orthodoxy are scheduled when needed, or at coffee hour on Sunday. Retreats and parish religious field trips are periodically held.

CHOIR, CHANTERS, READERS & ALTAR SERVERS participate actively during services. Choir practices are scheduled when needed. All children who are scheduled to serve are encouraged to help in Church.

THE SISTERHOOD is a parish organization of ladies helping serve the needs and beautification of the parish and also offers an outreach to the parishioners who are sick or convalescing at home.

THE PARISH COUNCIL brings together the priest and members of the laity in the Orthodox spirit of consular involvement. They strive to set an example through regular participation in the sacramental life of the church and provide administration and vision along with good stewardship of the church which God has entrusted to us.

OUTREACH ministries include helping Grace Haven, participating in the American Cancer Society's 24 hour Relay for Life, Christmas Caroling at the area Nursing Homes, and other Diocesan humanitarian appeals. The Church seeks to develop an awareness in all its members that what we do to the least, so we do unto Christ.

ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP offers support, outreach and guidance to students at Hillsdale College, Spring Arbor University and the University of Michigan. St. Demetrius Church is actively involved in spiritual formation of college students and fostering spiritual growth of all new seekers who have discovered Orthodox Christianity.
