Church School

Classes for children are held on Sundays following communion. Adult Education classes are also held on Wednesdays during the regular school year. Inquirers' classes for those wanting to learn more about Orthodoxy are scheduled as needed, or are held at coffee hour on Sundays. Retreats and parish religious field trips are also held periodically.

Choir PARTICIPANTS, Readers & Altar Servers

We encourage active participation during services. Choir practices are scheduled as needed. All children who are able to serve are encouraged to help within the Church.

The Sisterhood

A parish organization of women helping to serve the needs and beautification of the parish. The Sisterhood also offers an outreach to the parishioners who are sick or convalescing at home. As an ongoing church project, St Demetrius is collecting canned vegetables every Sunday. The vegetables are delivered to Immanuel Lutheran Church Food Pantry which distributes bundles of food to local residents in need of assistance. We welcome all contributions to this worthwhile community outreach.

The Parish Council

The Council brings together the Father Dusan and members of the laity in the Orthodox spirit of consular involvement. We strive to set an example through regular participation in the sacramental life of the church and provide administration and vision along with good stewardship of the church, which God has entrusted to us.

Outreach

Ministries include helping Grace Haven, participating in the American Cancer Society's 24 hour Relay for Life, Christmas Caroling at the area Nursing Homes, and other Diocesan humanitarian appeals. The Church seeks to develop an awareness in all its members that what we do to the least, so we do unto Christ.

Orthodox Christian Fellowship

We offer support, outreach and guidance to students at Hillsdale College, Spring Arbor University and the University of Michigan. St. Demetrius Church is actively involved in the spiritual formation of college students and fostering spiritual growth of all new seekers who have discovered Orthodox Christianity.
